Informed Consent for Couples Communication Services
This consent explains the nature and boundaries of non-medical couples coaching focused on communication, reflection, conflict awareness, and practical relationship skills.
Nature and Scope
- Services are emotional wellness coaching, education, guidance, and skills support—not psychotherapy, medical care, psychiatric treatment, diagnosis, or emergency services.
- The service does not replace care from a licensed medical or mental-health professional.
- Mary may recommend appropriate outside professional support when a need falls beyond her stated scope.
Participation and Responsibilities
- Both partners participate voluntarily and agree to respectful communication.
- Mary does not provide legal advice, determine fault, or make decisions about separation, divorce, custody, or property.
- Mary may pause joint work when safety, coercive control, active violence, or a need for licensed clinical care is identified.
Privacy and Its Limits
Because this is a joint service, information discussed during a couples session is shared within the joint setting. Mary cannot guarantee that either partner will keep the other partner’s statements private outside the session.
Information may be disclosed when permission is provided, when required by law or valid legal process, or when action is reasonably necessary to address an immediate safety concern. Do not submit sensitive wellness details through ordinary email, text messages, or public website fields.
Crisis and Safety
Mary’s services are not crisis or emergency services. Call 911 for immediate danger or call or text 988 for a mental-health crisis. Do not wait for a website, email, text, appointment, or coaching response.

By continuing in the secure client-start journey and providing your electronic signature, you confirm that you had the opportunity to review this category-specific consent, understand the nature and limits of the service, may ask questions before participating, and voluntarily agree to proceed.
This consent works together with the applicable service agreement, Scope of Practice, Privacy Policy, cancellation/payment terms, and—when Zoom is selected—the Telehealth Consent.
